Best Way to Convert Short Vocal Melodies to MIDI?

Record one clear vocal melody, save it as MP3 or PCM WAV, upload it, and inspect the detected notes before editing the MIDI. The browser workflow can test a melody line; it does not promise clean words, accompaniment separation, or a finished vocal transcription.

Use this order

  1. Record a short melody without backing instruments or room noise.
  2. Export the recording as MP3 or PCM WAV, then upload that file.
  3. Run the browser detector and check the note count and pitch preview.
  4. Download the MIDI and correct timing or stray notes in your editor.

The useful boundary is the input: a single melodic line gives the detector one pitch stream to inspect. A full mix or spoken phrase adds competing frequencies, so the resulting events need closer review.

Reproducible check

This page uses the same local detector test as the voice workflow. The actual WAV fixture contained one audible tone at MIDI pitch 60 and produced 1 note event; a silent control produced 0 events. Those are repeatable fixture observations, not a human-vocal accuracy score.

Questions from real workflows

Can a short vocal melody become MIDI?

It can be tested when the recording is a clear single line. Treat the downloaded notes as editable material and listen back before keeping them.

Why do tutorials mention Flex Pitch or Melodyne?

Those tools are DAW or editor workflows. They may provide their own analysis and editing steps; this page covers an MP3/WAV browser test, so it does not claim to reproduce their commands.

Will the converter separate a vocal from a full song?

No. The current browser path analyzes the uploaded decoded signal and does not perform stem separation.
