YOUTUBE TO MIDI FILE · AUDIO-FIRST TEST

YouTube to MIDI, YouTube Video to MIDI, and YouTube Link to MIDI: use an authorized audio file first, then inspect the MIDI events.

This page answers the practical handoff: YouTube is a video/audio source, while this converter accepts an audio file. For a video you own or are licensed to process, obtain its audio as MP3 or WAV, convert it, and compare the downloaded MIDI with the source before editing it.

Reproducible handoff test

InputHandoffObserved result
single-track.mp4extracted WAV → single.mid4 events: MIDI 62, 65, 69, 74
no-audio.mp4No extracted WAV or MIDIFailure log records no audio stream

The source was a generated four-note melody packaged in an AAC MP4. The extracted run preserved the four pitches; note starts were measured about 70–85 ms earlier than the generated starts. That is a fixture result, not a universal accuracy rate.

Use the file legally and check the result

  1. Use your own upload, a creator-provided download, a licensed recording, or another source you are allowed to process.
  2. Obtain MP3 or WAV audio and listen to that file before conversion.
  3. Run the browser converter, download the MIDI, and compare pitch, timing, and missing or extra notes with the source.

MIDI stores note events rather than the original video sound. A MIDI file cannot preserve the video’s timbre, room sound, or arrangement automatically.
